Title: Nachkussen
Author:
rubyjuly
Fandom: House M.D.
Rating, warning, etc: PG-13. House/Wilson. Set during the episode "Wilson." An event in "Broken" is referred to. 150 words.

Author's note: Nachkussen means "a kiss to make up for all the kisses that have been omitted."
Wilson's drifting, the last of the anesthesia lingering in his blood, when he hears House's voice, low and husky in counterpoint to the steady mechanical beep of the ICU's monitor. There's not yet any pain from the surgical incision over his divided liver, and he's content to float between two worlds, anchored by the soft rumble of that voice.
It's a whisper, like words from a dream, that he hears: "When I was in the hospital, I slept with a woman who reminded me of you."
His heart gives a startled jerk that echoes on the monitor. And then there are fingers encircling his wrist and his hand rises along with House's. He feels the warmth of an exhaled breath and the warmer touch of lips softer even than House's voice.
Comforted, he descends like a diver in the deepest part of the sea, into the depths of quiet sleep.

Date: 2010-01-02 09:17 pm (UTC)In Germany we use the "Duden" if we don´t know if a word exist. (like for Scrabbel.). You can look: http://www.duden.de/
but you won´t find "Nachküssen"
Maybe you just call it "Küssen". That would be a nice title for your really nice fic.

I should have done more research instead of relying just on that one source. Thank you for pointing that out, and for the nice comment.

Date: 2010-01-02 10:23 pm (UTC)Have to second alleskleber though, 'Nachkussen' is not technically an existing word in German. As 'nach' and 'küssen' yes, but not together. I do very much like what you used it as though. House and Wilson have a LOT of lost time (and definitely kisses) to make up for...
Okay maybe not lost time, but time they could have spent even better than they already have. :D
